Siddharth Sogani impresses, in last 32

Mumbasi: Collegian Siddharth Sogani  was in irresistible form as he went through two rounds, beating Nilesh Naik in the second and Abhiraj Meenawala in the third round to move into the last 32 of the  Rosy Blue sponsored Hindu Gymkhana-Wilson Jones All India Open handicap snooker championships, hosted by P.J.Hindu Gymkhana here on Sunday. Not only that Siddharth also advanced into the second round of the billiards event with consummate ease.

In his both the rounds, he has stretched fully. Against Nilesh Naik, he was off the hook in no time as he wrapped up the first frame (112-63). But then he lost the tempo in the second as Naik paid him back in his own coin to take the tie to the wire. Siddharth, however, kept his nerves and was home 98-83. Almost it was the same story against Abhiraj in the next round, when he won the first frame, but dropped the second in a close finish, but dominated in the decider, which he claimed at 123-66 with breaks of 31 and 41.

Darshak Jhaveri, of hosts Hindu Gymkhana, was pretty impressive while scoring over Matunga Gymkhana’s Ankit Thakkar in a grueling tie which went the full distance. Darshak won 111-92, 110-111, 119-81.
