21.12.08 - Day 21

Devendra, Dhruv set to create history

Mumbai: It is one of those unique coincidence that then two, Devendra  Joshi and Dhruv Sitwala, both  internationals, belonging to same state, same organization and the same club will vie for top honours in the billiards and snooker events of the Rosy Blue sponsored Hindu Gymkhana-Wilson Jones All India Open handicap billiards/snooker championships, hosted by P.J.Hindu Gymkhana in their premises on Sunday.

Devendra , India No.5,  with series of century breaks 140, 183 and 69 routed Nikhil Ootam 250-204 in billiards and followed it scoring over ebulient  Rohan Mirchandanai in straight frames in snooker.   However, earlier,  Devendra did encounter tough resistence from two-times former Asian snooker champion, Yasin Merchant before he triumphed 3-0. Surprisingly,

Dhruv hardly faced any  opposition from Maharashtra No. 1 Arun Agrawal before  he was through with 250-68 margin. However, Dhruv, did drop a frame to Manav Panchal from Malabar Hill Club before triumphed 3-1 in the snooker quarterfinals.
